That Was The Week This Was Thu 01st Jun 2000 14:39 What a week, eh? One that no Town fan will ever forget. Has it sunk in yet? We are Premier League, we are Premier League. |
Tout Rage! Wed 24th May 2000 16:16 With Town sold out today has seen more people offering tickets at ludicrous prices. More reports have come in of people being asked £400 for £30 seats. TWTD is removing all messages where fans are bing asked more than the face value for a ticket. |
MP Accuses Referee as Charges to be Brought Agains Fri 19th May 2000 14:17 Labour Chief Whip, MP for Dewsbury and Bolton fan Ann Taylor has voiced her criticism of Wednesday's referee Barry Knight. |
Town 5-3 Bolton Thu 18th May 2000 18:16 Town eventually ran out winners of a stupendous play-off semi-final second leg at Portman Road last night in a game that saw Bolton reduced to nine men, have ten booked and concede three penalties. A hat-trick from Jim Magilton, a penalty from Jamie Clapham and a fifth goal from Martijn Reuser saw Town to Wembley for the first time since the 1978 Charity Shield. |
2-0, But Play-Offs Again Sun 07th May 2000 20:26 Town easily defeated Walsall with two second half David Johnson goals, but fans returned home feeling less than ecstatic as Blackburn failed to beat Manchester City and catapult Town into the Premiership. Two play-offs with Bolton (yes Bolton again) await with the first away at the Reebok Stadium next Sunday afternoon. |
Stewart Declares Himself Fit Thu 04th May 2000 11:26 Town's record signing Marcus Stewart has declared himself fit for Sunday's more than slightly important game with Walsall. The serially injured striker says he can't wait for what he sees as the biggest game of his career. Stewart previously played for Bristol Rovers in a Wembley play-off final against the club he later joined Huddersfield, but sees Sunday's march as the bigger of the two. His dead-leg sustained on Saturday at the Valley is now OK and he is back in training. |
Injury Worries for Both Town and City Fri 28th Apr 2000 14:07 Ipswich and Manchester City both go into this weekend's vital First Division clashes with injury worries. Town are definitely missing John McGreal (ankle, not back before play-offs if required), Jonas Axeldal (knee, likely to be out for the season) and Mike Salmon (groin, needs an operation). Marcus Stewart is hoping to be back from his back spasm problem, Mark Venus will be looking for his ankle injury to improve and Manu Thetis could well be back from his back problem sustained on Tuesday against Crystal Palace. Richard Naylor is still feeling his tendinitis which will require surgery over the summer. |
Town 1-0 Palace Wed 26th Apr 2000 11:06 Town moved to two points behind Manchester City after a David Johnson stunner was enough to beat Crystal Palace. Town switched it about from Saturday with Manu Thetis coming into a three man backline, Martijn Reuser coming into midfield and with Jamie Clapham and Fabian Wilnis as the wide men. |
Injury Worries for Town Tue 18th Apr 2000 16:50 Town have more than a few worries for the weekend with John McGreal (ankle), Marcus Stewart (back), Mark Venus (ankle), Jonas Axeldal and Fabian Wilnis (thigh). |
Keegan Speaks Out on Wright Tue 28th Mar 2000 13:37 England manager Kevin Keegan has told Richard Wright that he must be playing Premiership football next season if he is to take his England career any further. Keegan was speaking prior to the England U21s play-off with Yugoslavia tomorrow in Barcelona (KO 6pm) which Wright is likely to start. If Town fail to win promotion Wright is now almost guaranteed to leave Portman Road in the close season with his price-tag the only question left to be answered. Over the years virtually all the top clubs have been rumoured to have an interest in Wright, who made his debut back in Town's days in the Premiership. Town have also been linked with keepers this season, most notably Shay Given, others mantioned include Barnet's Lee Harrison. Wright, who hopes to be part of the full squad for the European Championships in the summer, will have one year left on his current Town contract at the end of this season and Town will want to cash-in prior to his being available on a possible Bosman at the end of the 2001/2 season. |
